Preserving Our Local History,
One Page at a Time
In early 2026, a partnership was formed between Redbank Valley Public Library, The Leader-Vindicator, Redbank Valley Historical Society, Clarion Free Library and Eccles-Lesher Memorial Library to make our collections of local newspapers, primarily The Leader-Vindicator, more accessible to the public.
Until now, historical editions of these newspapers have only been available on microfilm, requiring individuals to visit the library in person and spend considerable time searching through reels to find specific information. Through this digitization project, these valuable historical records are becoming more accessible than ever. Our new digitized collection will allow users to search newspaper archives more easily, helping them discover local history, research family genealogy, locate historical records and explore the stories that have shaped our communities.
This important preservation and accessibility project has been made possible through private donations and generous grants from Bridge Builders Community Foundations and the Armstrong County Community Foundation. We are grateful to everyone who has helped preserve our local heritage and make it available for future generations.
